Worlds Largest Snake
I think everyone has watched those nature shows or beyond belief type programs where someone goes out into the Amazon or the jungles of Africa in search of weird animals of all kinds. It seems like the giant man eating snake is a popular topic of these programs. It seems like everyone that they interview on these shows always talk about 40 and 50+ foot long snakes, but for some reason no one is ever able to prove these measurements. Actually no one has ever even came close.
The Guinness Book of World Records even says that the longest snake captured in the world is only 32 feet long. That is a far cry from 50 feet. Granted 32 feet long is a huge snake, and I definitely would not want to run into this reptile, especially when it was hungry. Also the Guinness Book of World Records says that the heaviest snake in the world is a Burmese Python that is kept in Gurnee, Illinois this massive reptile weighs an astonishing 402 pounds!
So now that you know what the worlds longest and heaviest snakes are prepare yourself for what I am going to tell you! Those are the official records, but there is a new snake that has not yet been certified yet that is about to shatter both of those records.
It seems a remote village on one of the many Indonesian Islands were rumored to have a giant snake that they worshiped. When word got back to a snake handler on the Island of Java the handler got permission from the local authorities to capture the giant snake and bring it back to Java.
Well this snake handler did just that, and brought his prized snake back to the primitive zoo in Curugsewu village on the country’s main island of Java. So how long was this supposedly record breaking snake? Well according to to the handler this reticulated python measures an incredible 49 feet long, and weighs in at 985 pounds. So maybe all those stories that native are always talking about really are real.
