Dracone Barge

This bizarre contraption called the Dracone Barge was first designed by Professor William Hawthorne in 1956 at Cambridge University. It was originally designed as a new type of oil tanker and was used exclusively by the United States military for transporting large quantities of fuel and water across the oceans.

The Dracone Barge comes in many sizes the largest being 300 feet long with a 15 foot diameter. Since its initial design the Dracone Barge has been used for not only carrying fuel and water but also is used as a barrier for protecting United States Ships while in foreign ports and as containment barrier for oil spills and contaminated water.
