Here is a sight that you don’t see every day. This weird looking polar bear in the zoo is just a normal polar bear, but it came down with a skin condition. As a result of its sprayed on medicine the polar bear turned purple.

Well most of us have never seen a purple polar bear, well how about a green one? This one has his fur stained with algae from his swimming pool.

Talk about a freak accident, jumping on a trampoline and landing in a yawning hippo’s mouth! What a way to go!

This man was hired in India to scare away the monkeys. Talk about an unusual job. I don’t think I could walk around on all fours all day long and act like a monkey.

I have never seen anything like this before! The guy inside that excavator has a lot more guts than I do!

The Zizkov Television Tower dominates the Prague skyline. The tower was built from 1985 to 1992. The Zizkov Television Tower consists of three concrete pillars that supports the television transmitters, a restaurant and cafe, and three observation rooms. The tower is 709 feet high, has observation decks at the 328 foot level and the tower restaurant and cafe are situated in the lower pods at 207 feet. The elevators are equipped with speedometers and, transports passengers to the different levels at a rate of 4m/s. Besides being used as a television transmitter, the tower is also used as meteorological observatory.

Sound mirrors were built by the Royal Engineers from 1916 to the 1930’s. The sound mirrors were part of an extensive Zeppelin and enemy aircraft detection system that was built down the east coast of Britain during the First and Second World Wars.

The sound of an approaching aircraft was reflected off the concave mirror surface, and received into a trumpet mounted on a steel column. The trumpet was connected to a stethoscope that was used by the operator of the mirror. The operator was then able to tell from what direction that the aircraft were approaching by what part of the sound mirror produced the most sound. The operator would then warn the local authorities of an imminent attack. By the early 1940’s sound detection technology was replaced by what is know known as radar.

Check out these pics from Chicago’s O’Hare Airport after some pretty severe weather came through on September 13. The flooding was due to the remnants of Hurricane Ike dumping 6 1/2 inches of rain in a few short hours on the Chicago land area and a total of 8 to 12 inches over about a 40 hour period. It caused a lot of flooding throughout the area and closed several roads for days.
