If this isn’t one of the nastiest looking creatures that I have seen in a while. This huge 4 foot long giant sea worm was found in a display tank at Newquay’s Blue Reef Aquarium. I guess this giant sea worm who has been nicknamed Barry has been wreaking havoc for months on the live reef and fish in the display tank that it was found in.

For several weeks aquarium watched the display tank trying to figure out what was destroying the reef with no luck. Finally they decided to dismantle the reef, and about half way through the process they found this four-foot polychaete worm which they figured had gotten into the tank as a juvenile inside of some coral.

As if finding 4 foot long giant sea worm like Barry wasn’t bad enough, this nasty little creature is covered with thousands of little bristles that are capable of permanently inflicting numbness if they come in contact with your skin!

Since being discovered Barry has been removed from the reef display and given a tank of his own at the Newquay’s Blue Reef Aquarium.
