The last Sioux War Chief title was earned in WWII.
A Sioux fulfilled all the requirments.
I forget the details but one requirements was to steal
the enemy’s horses which he did when they raided a farmhouse
that the Germans had occupied. His job was to deal with the
horses. The Sioux soldier was unaware that he’d earned the
title of Sioux War Chief until he’d returned and was telling
his elders his war stories.

Thanks Dave for the comment. I have read about that story several years ago but had forgotten it. Thanks again for sharing it with us.
